The fog was so thick he couldn’t see her. But, he knew she was there. The minutes ticked by. He lit a cigarette and looked out over the balcony. He didn’t know her well, yet they had shared the most intimate of evenings. So he waited and watched. He heard her dog bark and knew she was getting closer; then her laughter. The fog parted giving way to the warmth of the sun and he smiled. She emerged from the water and waved. He was content.
